Obituary

Florence Buchanan Fuller, better known to her family as Fluggie, went to be with her lord on April 12, 2014. Florence, the beloved wife for 55 years of William H. Fuller, Jr, will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A lifelong resident of Phoebus/Hampton, she graduated from Hampton High School in 1957 and then went to work at Fort Monroe until she retired in 1988 after 28 years of Civil Service. She then worked at the City of Hampton for several years and then went on to volunteer at the American Red Cross. Those who love her will remember her as a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband, Florence is survived by her son, William S. Fuller and daughter-in-law Kellee; her daughter, Mary F. Parkison and son-in-law Jay; her grandchildren, Zachary, William, and Jovan Fuller; her step grandsons, Matthew, Aaron, Dallas, Skyler, London and Dakota Plummer; and step granddaughter Heather Cotton. She also leaves behind, her granddog Katy whom she loved very much.

Florence was a member of LaCrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church, sang in the choir for several years and assisted in various church functions. She was a devoted member of the Lucky Sunshine Ladies Chapter of the Red Hat Society and loved being with her dear friends and taking part in their activities. Florence was a good athlete, playing softball and basketball in her younger years and playing golf with her husband in more recent years. She enjoyed traveling, Caribbean cruises and had visited most of the states and seven European countries. She was full of life, loved dancing, playing cards, roller coasters, and made a valiant attempt at snow skiing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16 th from 6 until 8 pm in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A service to honor her life will be held on Thursday, April 17 th at 11:00 am at LaCrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1518 N. Mallory Street, Hampton followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park. After the burial, friends are welcome to meet back at LaCrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church for a time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LaCrosse Memorial Presbyterian Church.
