Father Robert F. Ruth, 82, passed away Monday October 3, 2016. Born in the Phoebus section of Hampton, he has been a lifelong resident of Tidewater. Fr. Ruth was ordained a Catholic Priest on May 3, 1960. He served in many parishes within the Diocese of Richmond.
Fr. Ruth is survived by his brothers, Richard A. Ruth IV, John N. Ruth and Thomas J. Ruth; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM Friday, October 14, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6400 Newport Ave, in Norfolk. Immediately following, a Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM by The Most Reverend Francis X. DiLorenzo, Bishop of the Diocese of Richmond. Interment will be Oakland Cemetery in Hampton at 1:30 PM.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Chapel Fund of Marian Manor, 5345 Marian Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
