Dr. Fairfield Armistead Ward, D.D.S. Board Certified Endodontist, who practiced Endodontics in Newport News, quietly slipped away in the early morning hours of October 23, 2023 (b. February 26, 1953) after a long, heroic battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by his parents Dr. Oscar W. Ward, Jr., and Catherine E. Ward; he is survived by his brother, Oscar Wilde Ward, III and sister, Catherine E. Ward; aunts, Penelope W. Ward Kyle and Judith Austin; first cousins, Penelope W. Kyle, Patricia A. Kyle, Lanny A. Kyle, Jr., William J. Austin, Deborah Austin; cousin Angela L. Eley Sumner; and numerous second and third cousins; his girlfriend, MaryPat Cassidy; and loyal, faithful friends, Jonathan Frank, Steven Coenen, Chipper Carmines and Larry Monette.

The family thanks all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at MCV, Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Careplex Hampton, and Hampton University Proton Institute who participated in his treatment; especially Drs. Denardo, Kendal, Kobulnicky, Polito and Thornton.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Phoebus United Methodist Church, 300 E. Mellen Street, Hampton, by Reverend Dr. Robert L. Parsons and Robert E. Rough; followed by a luncheon.
