Obituary

Eva Joyce Simpson Bohon , of Hampton, VA, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Born on August 23,1933, in Chevrolet, KY, she was the daughter of the late James K. and Gladys Simpson. She spent most of her youth in her beloved Keen Mountain, VA. She took great pride in being a "Coal Miner's Daughter." Eva graduated from Bluefield State College and taught for Hampton City Schools for over 25 years until her retirement.

Eva was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Throughout her life, she loved to sew and travel but she especially loved to shop. Eva loved her family and her favorite thing to do was spending time with them and spoiling them. She passed on her love of sewing, handbags, and all things that sparkle to her granddaughters. Our lives will be empty without her, but her memories will be forever with us.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sherry Holt and husband Cecil; two grandchildren, Jamee and husband, Paul Martocci, and Amanda and husband, Dan Marino; three great-grandchildren, Mason Marino, Joseph and Anthony Martocci. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley and husband, Antonio Rodriguez, many nieces and nephews and very special friend, Joan Webb. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, William O. Bohon, parents, James K. and Gladys Simpson, sisters; Betty Lawrence, Margaret Freeman-Smith, Mary Trosper, and a brother, Jerry K. Simpson.   Eva loved her family and friends so very much and we will keep you "always in our heart."

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, March 20 by Rev. Booker Brown in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation for the care, concern , and support given to us by the staff of Commonwealth Senior Living and Stay at Home Personal Care. Our family is so grateful for the love, kindness and support given to "Miss Eva" by her caregiver, Cynthia Baskin.
