Euthern Bennett Wood, 60, unexpectedly passed away at his home in Hampton on Jan. 1, 2017.  Bennett is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Ruth Smith Wood; loving daughter, Amy Wood Burgener (Matthew) of Newport News; mother, Mary Wood, of Gloucester; brothers  David Wood of Gloucester and Alan Wood (Evelyn) of Hampton; sisters Lanell Jarvis (Nelson) of Mathews and Diane Johnson (Terry) of Gloucester; and several nieces and nephews.
Bennett was preceded in death by his father, Euthern Wood, and his sister-in-law, Grace Wood.
Bennett will be dearly remembered by his family and friends as a quiet, gentle soul with a huge heart and easy smile.
A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2017 @ 2:00 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S Armistead Ave, Hampton, VA 23669.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bennett's name to the American Heart Association.
