Obituary

Eugene William Moreland, age 101 of Hampton, VA and formerly of Mt Storm, WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born on July 24, 1924 in Kempton, MD, he was the son of the late Joseph Lawrence Moreland and Ollie Mae (Eversole) Moreland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Fisher) Moreland in 2019; two sisters, Millie Frances Schwinabart and Marguerite Virginia Sherwood and two brothers, Harley Joseph Moreland and Frank Elwood Moreland, Sr. Mr. Moreland was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Moreland was an agent for Peoples Life Insurance Company in Cumberland, MD and retired in 1986.

Mr. Moreland served his country during World War II by enlisting in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Mt Storm United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Mt Storm Volunteer Fire Company, chartered August 30, 1961, serving as treasurer for 37 years and as chaplain. He was a member of the Mt Storm Lions Club for 15 years and served as president for two terms and served as chaplain.

Mr. Moreland is survived by one son, Gale Eugene Moreland and wife Shirley Patreice of Hampton, VA; two daughters, Sandra Lee Barnett and husband Rev. Johnny O. Barnett and Ann Katheryn Bullock and husband Leamon E. Bullock of Hampton, VA; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mt Storm United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rebecca L. Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM till time of service. Interment will be in Mt Storm Cemetery with Military Honors by the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard and United States Navy Honor Guard.
