Ethel Oman Brittingham, 100, passed away February 1, 2016. Ethel was born in Hampton, Virginia and graduated from Hampton High School at age 16. She married William Cecil Brittingham, Sr. in 1940. She worked primarily as a homemaker and also as a cashier in the Hampton High School cafeteria during the 1960's and 70's. She was predeceased by her parents, all of her brothers, her husband, and her oldest son, William Cecil Brittingham, Jr. She is survived by her children, Thomas P. Brittingham, Shirley L. Brittingham, J. David Brittingham (Mary Gayle), four grandchildren (Scott M. Brittingham, Brian S. Brittingham (Libby), Katherine T. C. Brittingham, and Kathryn B. Campbell (Russell)), and two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Saturday, February 13 at Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton, where a funeral service will follow at 2pm. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery..
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 317 Lee St., Hampton, VA 23669, or to a favorite charity.
