Esther Daley Penrod, age 83, of Hampton, passed away at her home on January 11, 2017 from natural causes.

Esther was born on August 1, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up in Canonsburg, PA. Esther married George Penrod on July 6, 1957 and they relocated to Hampton Virginia in Dec of 1971. Esther worked at Robert Sugden Elementary School and later in the guidance office of Kecoughtan High School until she retired. Upon retiring she worked with the Literacy Program teaching seniors to read and/or study for their GED. Esther attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Esther is survived by her husband: George Penrod, two daughters; Heather Penrod-Rudd and Robin Penrod Lanning, son-in laws; Rick Rudd and Al Lanning and her cousins; William Potts & George Cowan.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 6:00 pm at Waters Edge Church, 2011 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA 23669.
