Obituary

Ernestine "Tine" Langston Sellers, 78, passed away on November 28, 2022 in Newport News Virginia.

Tine was born in Tarboro NC to Marvin Henry Langston and Sadie Ellen Ellis Langston on December 14, 1943. She was the 3 rd of 4 children born to Marvin and Sadie. Tine's siblings included Ann Ellis Brown, Marvin Wayne Langston and John Brooks Langston. She is preceded in death by her siblings John Brooks Langston, Marvin Wayne Langston and Ann Ellis Brown.  Tine is survived by her daughters Danielle Sellers Weglar, Michelle Rena Sellers, and her grandchildren Devon Ellis Weglar and Cameron Nicole Weglar; as well as Michelle's husband Rowland Cole.

She was in the graduating class of 1963 from West Edgecomb High School. Tine was voted "Cutest" in her graduating class, and man was she. Shortly after high school, Tine married Robert Andrew Sellers of Smyrna, NC. Robert joined the military and they traveled the world together.  They were stationed in Guam, Taiwan, Fayetteville, NC and Fort Worth, Texas.

After her divorce in 1983, Tine moved back to Rocky Mount, NC where she lived for another 7 years before moving to St. Augustine, Florida. In St. Augustine, she worked as a Bridge Supervisor for C & S Maintenance for 17 years, before retiring and moving in with her oldest daughter, Danielle, where she began traveling again. Tine then moved with her daughter to Champaign, Ill, Mendenhall, MS and finally Hampton, VA, where she lived the rest of her life.

Tine was a loving, dedicated mother of 55 years. When her children were in school, Tine served as the PTO president, the girl scout leader and sponsored the annual school fair for charity. Tine taught her daughters how to do many things such as hanging wallpaper, painting walls, sewing clothes, refurbishing furniture, and upholstery. She taught her daughters how to stand on their own two feet and know their worth. She engraved into her children, there was nothing they couldn't do. She was the best mommy ever.

Tine loved music and taught her daughters to love music. Some of Tine's favorite artist included Bob Dylan, Don Williams, Willie Nelson, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Marly, Aretha Franklin, Loggins and Messina, and Simon and Garfunkel. Tine, Danielle and Michelle would clean house and sing at the top of their lungs. Sometimes, the music would be so good, cleaning would stop, but the music never did.  Tine loved the beach, especially Atlantic Beach.  As a young woman, she spent every available weekend at the beach Shagging to the Drifters, the Four Tops, and Chairman of the Board; all that good ole Beach Music. This love for the beach was also passed on to her daughters. Of all the places she lived, St Augustine Beach was her favorite.

Tine was loved by many and forgotten by none. Her life and legend still lives on through her children.
