Erma Carpenter Pearce, 86, passed from this world to the next on September 28, 2021.  She was born September 23, 1935 in Phoebus, VA to Aubrey Carpenter and Amy Hellman Carpenter.  She graduated from Hampton High School.  Erma married Stanley Pearce in 1957.  She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

She was predeceased by her parents and her stepfather, Norman "Broad" Turner, brother Harold, sisters Juanita and Charlotte and her husband, Stanley.  She is survived by her sister Alice and her husband Conky Sorrell, sisters in law Shirley Carpenter and Sylvia Rumsey (husband Ron) and sons Norman (wife Beth), Michael (wife Shari) and Stephen (wife Lisa).  She is also survived by one grandson, William Pearce, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family requests that any memorials take the form of contributions to the SPCA or to Alzheimer's Research.

Service will be private at Parklawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements are in the care of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
