It is with profound sadness that the family of Eric Macklin Wells, age 57 announces his passing on Tuesday March 18,2025 at his residence in Hampton, Virginia.

Preceded in death by his mom and dad, Shirley and Mack Wells and his brother, Mackie Wells; Eric is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Wells (John); his sons, Dylan Wells (Allie), Brenden Wells, Nathan Wells; his four grandchildren, Nevaeh, Isaiah, Jeremiah Wells and Hadleigh Wells; his sisters, Anita Charnock, Juanita Fritzler, Vera Parrish, Tammy Hannum; his brother, Carlton (Moose) Wells; and Laura Charnock who was raised like a sister to him; as well as many nieces and nephews; and his seven feral cats that brought him endless joy.

Eric was a devoted father to his daughter and three sons. A man who loved baseball, music and the simple joys of making people laugh; he had a talent for making everyone feel welcome.  Eric created moments of joy that will be cherished forever, especially when sharing one of his well told, unforgettable, stories.  His laughter, warmth and love will echo in the hearts of the ones who knew him.

His children will honor his legacy by carrying the Wells family name with pride, strength, compassion and the heart he showed them. Eric Macklin Wells was an incredible father, loyal friend and the funniest most genuine soul, who made the world brighter just by being in it. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Eric worked for Howmet Aerospace in Hampton for over 20 years until his retirement.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23669 with a visitation one hour prior to the service from 1 - 2 PM at the funeral home.
