Eric Hellman Snapp, 96, a life long resident of Hampton, Va, passed away peacefully in his home, May 11, 2023.
Eric Snapp was the son of the late Karl & Beatrice Snapp. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Stella Snapp, and his brothers; Edward K. Snapp, George W. Snapp, Samuel Snapp, his sister; Mary Snapp Gaddis, Granddaughter; Christine Dazley, Great grandchildren; Carl Henderson and Brittany Dazley.
Eric is survived by six siblings; Clara Snapp Christner Alligood, Louise S. Florez, Dan & Joann Snapp, Donald Snapp, Irene S Moore, Phyllis S. Edwards, four children; Rosemarie Watson, Linda & Larry Henderson, Don Dazley & Linda, Frank & Becky Forrest, seven grandchildren; Elizabeth & Maxie Andrucci, Eric & Teresa Henderson, John & Linda Henderson, Alec & Rae Dazley, Jennifer & Bryan Brendle, Nancy & Ty Moen, Rachel & Bryant Brockett, ten great grandchildren; Christopher Jenkins, Eric Henderson, Jr, Nicholas Shell, Jessica Kenawell, Maxie Andrucci, Mary Hodge, Chase Andrucci, Reagan Brendle, Katy Moen, Stevie Rae Dazley, two great-great grandchildren; Raven Kenawell, Logan Brendle.
Mr. Eric Snapp was dedicated to his country and community. He retired from the US Navy after 30 years, serving in WWII South Pacific, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired as a city inspector for the City of Hampton after 20 years. Eric served as a Life Member on the Buckroe Beach Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member of Peninsula Orchid Society and a member of the Buckroe Historical Society.
Eric was Husband, Dad, Granddaddy, Grandpa, Papa and friend, he is remembered as a loving, caring and devoted family man, loved by all who met him. Whether it was Sunday morning breakfast, holidays, birthdays or any special occasion, he was always surrounded by family and friends. He will truly be missed!
The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10AM at the funeral home. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Park will follow with full military and fire department honors.
Family & friends may gather at his home after the service.
