Elvin "Gene" Minyard, 64, passed away January 8, 2015. He was born in Floyd County, VA and had been a longtime resident of Newport News. He loved to watch NASCAR races and was a loyal fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Gene was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and being outside. Each spring and summer he would convert the backyard into a garden and loved to share the vegetables with his neighbors. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Theresa Minyard and his brother Ricky. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Connie Limandri; four sons, a daughter, and good friend Butch. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Mary and Sherry from Riverside Hospice Group for the wonderful care they provided. The family will hold a memorial gathering in the spring.
