Eloise Pittman Parker, 102, died Saturday, September 13, 2014. A native of Selma, NC, she had been a Hampton resident since 1940. She worked for many years as a seamstress for The Newport News Children's Dress Factory. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church and enjoyed making crafts, crocheting, quilting and many social activities with her friends at Seton Manor. She loved to play Scrabble and was victorious in almost every game. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ray Parker, Sr., her daughter, Jean Arnold, her son, Benny Parker, and her granddaughter, Carol Scott. Survivors include her children, Mildred Tracey of Maryland, Ray Parker, Jr. and his wife, Laurie of North Carolina, and Linda Boyd and her husband, Ed of Hampton; her daughter-in-law, Laura Parker of California; eleven grandchildren, Patricia Tracey, John Tracey, Richard Tracey, Janet Tracey, Michael Tracey and his wife, Kris, Michael Parker and his wife, Jean Healy, Cindy Austin and her husband, Cliff, Barbie Holland, Suzanne Boyd, Rodney Parker and Jasmine Parker; and eleven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin and Natalie Tracey, Laura Catherwood, Mary Manning, Parker and Kailey Austin, Valerie Holland, Rodney Parker, Jr., Leandra Parker, Lily Parker, and Reagan Parker. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 Friday, September 19, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm conducted by Rev. Jason W. Snow. Interment will follow in the Phoebus Section of Hampton National Cemetery. She was kind and generous, always thinking of others and sharing whatever she had. She was loved dearly by all that knew her and will be missed.
