IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Betty"
Maxwell Pool
December 2, 1928 – February 3, 2025
Elizabeth "Betty" Maxwell Pool, daughter of Robert and Mary Agnes Maxwell, passed away on February 3, 2025. Predeceased by her beloved husband, John, Betty is survived by her children: Timothy Pool (Regina), Donna Turner (Lee), Robin Pool (Sandra), Mark Pool (Sharon), and Laurie Grant (Gene). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Daniel Rowe, Lauren Grammer (Ryan), Alexandra Peyton (John), Melissa Alhmad (Randy), Robert Pool, Johnathan Pool, Amanda Crocker (Cody), Alison Grant, David Grant (Ashley), LTJG John Grant, and Schuyler Grant.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her five siblings: Pete Maxwell, Frank Maxwell, Mary Morgan, Alice Boyenton and Joseph Maxwell. Her gentle, kind nature and strong faith brought comfort to all her family and friends. As a resident of Quinton, VA for 54 years, Betty was a founding member of the first Catholic church in New Kent County, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. She served as a lector and a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Parish Life Ministry. An avid gardener, she helped plant and maintain "Mary's Garden" at the church. Betty was engaged and dedicated to a variety of causes including neighborhood beautification projects, Meals on Wheels, the garden club and was a 4-H leader. She used her persuasive writing ability to write "letters to the editor" to raise awareness about issues and persuade decision-makers to take action about causes that would improve our community and general welfare. She cherished the weekly prayer group she participated in with her best friends. Betty was not only a loving mother and a devoted friend to all, but she was also a talented seamstress with a delightful sense of humor. Her favorite motto was "Everything Grows with Love." Special thanks to her loving caregivers: Mary, Marilyn, Irma, Karen, Kelly, Tammy, and Vera. The heart of a caregiver is simply beautiful. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2631 Pocahontas Trail, Quinton, Va. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, P.O. Box 648, Quinton, Va. 23141.
