Obituary
Elizabeth Moore Compton, 93, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2018 after a short illness. Born and raised in Poquoson, she spent most of her life in the Fox Hill community in Hampton. A stranger to no one, Elizabeth was always there to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, a smile, a hug, or a wonderful home-cooked meal to all. She was a devoted member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School class. She truly loved all people and was a faithful servant of God.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Charles Robert "Pete" Compton; her six children, Charles "Bob" (Jane) Compton, Jr., Mary "Sissy" (Jean)Compton, Becky (Herb) Barnhart, Bunny (Joe) Fitzpatrick, Scott (Marisa) Compton, and Jenny (Phil) Watkins; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her two sisters, Jean Morse of Poquoson and Elsie Parker of Yorktown. Her two brothers, Collis "Junie" Moore, Jr. and Edward Moore preceded her in death.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Commonwealth Assisted Living Hampton for their care where she spent her last three years.
Family will receive friends at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church on Friday, March 16 at 10 a.m. , with the service following at 11 a.m. Interment at Parklawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, 501 Beach Road, Hampton, VA 23664.
