Eleanor Faye Simpson, 72, of Hampton, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2014. She was born July 20, 1941 to Pearl and Julius Baxley of Red Springs, NC. After moving to Hampton in 1986, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked for many years at the Hampton - Newport News Community Services Board. Eleanor was a devoted member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. She is survived by husband Jerry Simpson, son Sherrell Riddle, Jr., sisters Ruth Klingenschmidt and husband Wayne, Rebecca Stricklin and husband Delmar, Vicky Baxley-Jobe and husband Larry, a brother Lawrence Baxley, and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor is predeceased by her parents, a sister Pat Hayden Byrd, and brothers Julius Baxley, Jr. and Frank Baxley. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Pastor Joe Hunt. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666.
