Elaine Karen Topping, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Elaine was born on April 23, 1953, in Staten Island. New York. She was a dedicated nurse who spent her life caring for others with kindness, compassion, and grace. Whether she was comforting a patient, supporting a friend, or caring for her family, she always put the needs of others before her own.

Elaine was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Karl F. and Evelyn D. Pelmear.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 46 years, Richard; her loving children, Richard “Rick” Topping III (Julia Topping), Kristen Brewer (Jason Brewer), and four grandchildren, Katherine, Benjamin, Karly, and Colton, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. Being “MiMi” was one of her greatest blessings, and she treasured every moment spent making memories with her grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Sandra Regan and Debra Subowicz, many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Outside of her career and family, Elaine found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved relaxing at the beach and at her beach house “Paradise Found,” getting lost in a good book, and spending quality time with her cherished friends. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and caring heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Elaine leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness that will continue to live on through her family and all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.

A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, Hampton with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
