Edward E. "Elmo" Walker, Sr, 96, died Sunday, July 20, 2014. Born in Zions Crossroads, VA he had been a Peninsula resident for many years where he was a member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Walker had served in the US Navy and retired from the C&O Railroad after many years. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rosa. He is survived by his son, Edward Elmo Walker, Jr. and wife Judy; daughter-in-law, Frances Albert; sister Marion Berry; grandchildren, Jim Albert, Mike Albert, Joyce Welch, Trish Clinard, Eddie Walker, Johnny Walker, Chuck Walker and Jack Walker; nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. The family extends its gratitude to Golden Living Center-Bayside of Poquoson for the loving care given to Elmo during the last 4 years. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1-2 PM.
