Edward Kirkwood Godsey, Jr., 84, died Friday, March 22, 2024. Born in Lynchburg, VA, he had been a Hampton resident since 1968. He graduated from Hampden Sidney College in 1961 and earned his master's degree from The College of William and Mary in 1974. He taught at Barron Fundamental School retiring as a 4th grade teacher in 1994.

An avid coin collector, he also enjoyed shooting pool and reading books. He was a member of the National Educator's Association and the American Federation of Teachers.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Edward K. Godsey, Sr. and his stepson, Joe Tvelia. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Hudnall and her husband, Lewis; and two grandchildren, Mitchell and Mackenzie. The family would like to thank Shirley Herron who helped care for him for many years.

The family will receive friends from 3 – 4pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
