Edward John Downing, Jr., 39, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013. A native of Queens, NY, he had been a Hampton resident for the last 31 years. A Tree Surgeon with over 25 years of experience, he worked for CUT 'EM DOWN TREE SERVICE . He was raised in the Catholic faith and he faithfully attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. He loved his family and spending time with his kids.

Survivors include his wife, Tanya Renee Downing; his children, Edward John "Smejay" Downing, III, Brittany "Nitnee" Downing, and Michelle "ShellShell" Downing; his mother, Barbara Normandeau; his brother, Joseph Normandeau; his nephew, Chandlor; his niece, Cayden; three step-sisters, three step-brothers; several additional nieces and nephews; and many other close friends and family members.

Friends are asked to join the family at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 2, 2013 for a memorial ride from R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue to Langley Baptist Church for a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM.

Memorials may be sent to Tanya for an educational fund to be set up for their children.
