Earl Franklin Smith, 79, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018.  Born and raised on the Peninsula, he lived in Hawaii for 54 years before moving back to the Peninsula in 2013.

While in Hawaii, he was a property developer.  He was also professional Golfer and owned patents for a scientifically based fitting system for golf clubs.  He enjoyed surfing on longboards and his time on the beaches of Hawaii.  Earl was also involved in the early stages of an experimental program for retinal detachment surgery called Scleral Buckle.

Earl enjoyed his life with his family and friends, doing the things he wanted to do.  "He did it his way!!"

Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Maureen O. Smith; step-children, Mark Nichols and Deborah Nichols; grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Alexandria Pinkleton; and his beloved cat Piko.
