June 10, 1931 – October 20, 2024
Earl Jacklin Parker, 93, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Born in Cumberland, Maryland to parents Earl and Grace Parker; he had been a Hampton resident for the past 56 years. Jack proudly served in the Air Force, retiring in 1968 and went on to work as a ship inspector for civil service. He graduated from Christopher Newport University in 1976 and was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi. An award-winning roller skater, he also enjoyed playing the piano, tinkering with electronics, playing cards, and loved to play golf and collect golf balls. Jack was very active with his church where he served as elder, usher and reader. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Francis Parker; Jack leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 66 years, Margaret Parker; his daughter, Angela Bristow (Doug); and granddaughter, Ashlee Bristow.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton with interment to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park with Military Honors. A reception will be held immediately following the graveside service at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the SPCA in Jack's memory.
