Dwight Garth Stalls Sr. passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2013. Born in Halifax County, NC, in 1929, he moved to Hampton, VA after his military service ended in 1953. As "Baby", he served his country as a member of the US Army and received numerous commendations for his service during the Korean War. As "Pop", he was the proud business owner of an Esso service station in Wythe, a skilled plumber, an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and crab in "Gull Rock", and who took great pride in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris "Granny" Stalls. To continue to cherish their memories, are their two children, Debra S. Coviello and Dwight G. Stalls, II, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, VA from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a funeral service to be conducted at 11:00 by the Rev. Myron Simmons. The interment will be held at 2:00 PM in Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, NC.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mattamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge, Swan Quarter, NC, or to the Korean War Veterans Association.
