Dwayne M. Davis, 61, died on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Born in Hampton, he was a lifetime resident of Hampton Roads and resided in Hampton at the time of his death.

A 1981 graduate of Bethel High School, Mr. Davis was a Virginia State Master Trooper assigned to the Peninsula where he served 25 years until his retirement in 2010.  He was also a former police officer for the Cities of Hampton and Newport News prior to accepting employment with the Virginia State Police on February 16, 1985.  Dwayne was employed part-time with R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton for several years.

Mr. Davis was a longtime member of the Virginia State Police Officers Association and the National Troopers Coalition.  He was a member of Hampton Christian Church and was an avid coin collector and a member of the American Numismatic Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennitte M. Davis, Sr. and Elizabeth G. Davis; and his brother, Robert W. Higgins; survivors include his wife, Rhonda Davis; son, James D. Davis; daughters, Kacie Martorana-Davis and Kylee Davis; brothers, Dennitte M. Davis, Jr., Richard D. Davis, and Gregory W. Davis; and a sister, Deborah Koss all of the Hampton Roads area.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at noon, on Friday, November 22, 2024, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by Pastor Richard Cline. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends beginning at 11AM at the funeral home.
