Douglas Lee McLane, 67, died Monday, January 20, 2014. A lifelong resident of Hampton and Gloucester, Doug served 26 years in the Hampton Fire Department, retiring in 1996. He was a generous and caring man who was loved by many. Doug is survived by his wife, Carol Thomas McLane; children, Jennifer Hope McLane of Cornelius, NC and Douglas Lee McLane, Jr., his wife Suzanne, and two children Brandon and Bryce all of Hampton; aunt Nellie Powell; and a large extended family. Doug was a loving husband and father whose world revolved around his family and close friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by Chaplain David Lekarczyk. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Interment will be private.
