Douglas Jay Hines, 26, passed away November 11, 2018. A native of Hampton, he graduated from Phoebus High School where he was a member of ROTC for four years. Doug served in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal, he was assigned to Company A 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion. He served 6 years of Honorable service in the reserves as a Motor Vehicle Operator. Doug's life revolved around his daughter Hailey Hines. Doug loved fishing with his dad, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, playing video games, and shooting guns.

Doug was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Survivors include his daughter Hailey Hazel Hines; fiancée, Sara Volk; parents, David and Cheryl Hines; sister, Rebecca A. Hines; brother, David J. Hines Jr.; and his niece Rosemary Hines.

The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 3-4PM. A funeral service will be held following the viewing at 4PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a College Fund for his daughter Hailey at Navy Federal Credit Union, Hailey Hazel Hines Memorial Acct.
