IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas "Bubba"
Burnett Scott
April 14, 1949 – November 14, 2025
Douglas "Bubba" Burnett Scott, 76, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away on November 14, 2025. Born on April 14, 1949, Bubba grew up in Hampton. He was a 1969 graduate of Hampton High School. Bubba spent his entire life as a contractor, owning Scott Home Improvement. It is through this company that his craft earned the respect of many of Hampton's citizens. With his skills, he has renovated many homes and businesses, providing countless updates, most specifically to grand ole homes of Hampton and the businesses of downtown Hampton and Phoebus. It is through his business that he met and befriended so many people. His greatest feat was building by hand the homes of his children, where his legacy continues.
Bubba was an extremely hard worker and tough man, but his grandchildren and any animals were complete soft spots for him. He was known to bring Sunday morning breakfast to his grandchildren, provide sneak peeks of Santa on Christmas Eve, and show up early to celebrate birthdays. And he was never without a biscuit or two for the family or neighborhood dogs.
Bubba is survived by his two sons, Justin L. Scott and wife, Heidi, and Timothy H. Scott and wife, Heather; grandchildren, Lauralynn Scott and Tyler Scott. He is also survived by Melanee Haywood Scott, as well as his sister, Francis Lee Johnson. In addition, he is survived by Tracy Andrus, who loved him and cared for him like a father.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on November 19, 2025 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 11am at Parklawn Memorial Park.
