Hampton,

Dorothy B. Wright, 90, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11, 2022, at her daughter's home in Newport News.  Born and raised in Newport News, VA she had been a Hampton resident for 65 years.  Dorothy grew up on Hampton Avenue and attended Newport News Public Schools.  After graduation from Newport News High School in 1949, Dorothy worked as a secretary for a local insurance company where she met her husband, Charles.  They married in 1957 and moved to Hampton to raise a family.  Later in life, Dorothy worked at various grocery stores doing in-store product demonstrations well into her 80's.  She enjoyed staying active and loved gardening, animals, and hummingbirds. She was always quick-witted with a great sense of humor.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, George "Mack" Bluford and Enola Grace Rinehart;  husband, Charles C. Wright, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen L. Wright of Newport News; son, Keith A. Wright of Williamsburg; sister, Helen Holloman of Poquoson, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton.  The family encourages, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Rd, Hampton, VA  23666.
