Dorothy Speight, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday night March 27, 2018 at the age of 93. Born February 3, 1925, she spent her childhood in Richmond after which she moved to Hampton with her husband Garris where she lived for the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Garris English; husband Robert Speight; brothers Raymond, Steve, George, Josh, John, Emmett, Charles, and Willie, and sisters, Lina, Viola, and Ruby and her infant grandson Christopher Brian. She is survived by her son William English and wife Susan; daughter Gayle Cozzens and husband Dennis; sister Jean Melton; two grandchildren, Donna and husband Richard, Jason and wife Sarah; two great-grandchildren Adrienne and Logan and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She was very loving and was a blessing to all who knew her. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 10-11AM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 11AM. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
