Obituary

Dorothy Jane Crump Pride, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021. Born in Kirkwood, MO, she had been a Hampton resident since 1948. A very active member of First Presbyterian Church, she was the first woman elder of the church, participated in sewing for missions, taught 2 nd and 3 rd grade Sunday school and was a member of the Presbyterian Women on the local, state, and national level. She was a volunteer at the Sentara Careplex Hospital, the Norway Beach Visitors' Center in Cass Lake, MN and many other forest service nature projects in Minnesota. Dorothy was a member of the PEO on the local and state level and was a local founding member of the AAUW. She was deeply supportive of the Downtown Hampton Child Development Center.

Preceded in death in 2018 by her husband of 73 years, Richard Allen Pride; survivors include her children, Sherry Acuff and husband, John, Nita Pride, Peter Pride and wife, Jane, and Sally Kuchta and husband, Butch; five grandchildren, Zeb Acuff, Sarah Chapman, Allen Kuchta, Rachel Kuchta, and Tommy Kuchta; four great-grandchildren, Isaac Acuff, Esther Acuff, Azariah Acuff, and Ella Chapman; her brother, James Crump; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
