Dorothy Golden, 88, peacefully slipped into her eternal resting place on January 6, 2017. Mrs. Golden was born in Wilson County North Carolina on January 8, 1928 to George and Bessie Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Benjamin Golden Jr, her parents, and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her sister Doris Taylor, brother George Moore, three children, Deborah Lane, Ben Golden, and Sandra Golden, son-in-law Jay Lane, daughter-in-law Kathy Golden, two grandchildren Paul Golden, Diana Gravely and her husband Ryan, and one great-grandchild Brylan Gravely.

Dot was the only member of her family to leave North Carolina. She left to pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She graduated from Buxton Hospital in Newport News, 1949, as a Registered Nurse. Although she loved being a Nurse, the things she treasured most were her faith and her family.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation of Southeastern Virginia.

A private graveside service at Peninsula Memorial Park, and will be officiated by Pastor Chris Deitsch, Liberty Baptist Church, Harbour View. Arrangements are in the care of R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
