IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy
Lockett
December 10, 1923 – September 27, 2024
Dorothy Napier Lockett, 100, born in Fluvanna County and resident of Hampton, VA passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024. She was dedicated to her family, an active friend and was loved by all. Dorothy was born on December 10, 1923 in Fluvanna County, the daughter of Jake Napier and Alma Napier. She moved to Hampton, VA in her young adult years where she met the love of her life, married and quickly became very active as a member of the NCO Wives Club at Langley Air Force Base. Dorothy spoke love through acts of service and she poured that selflessly into volunteer work at various organizations at Fort Monroe and the Hampton VA Hospital. She had a love for gardening and playing cards with her closest friends. She was energized by friends and her love for family was immeasurable.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, David William Lockett; parents Jake and Alma Napier; daughter and son in law, Cheryl Lockett Kelsey and John Kelsey; grandson, Christopher Donald Lockett; and her two sisters, Margie and Lou. Dorothy is survived by son, David William Lockett, Jr. (Priscilla); grandson, David Preston Lockett; great grandchildren, Christopher Gage, Shelby, Collin, David Paul, and Luke; great-great grandchildren, Kenley Jean and Christopher Raymond; and nieces, Jodi Villanella (Doug), Marilyn (Phil) and Alma Jean (Eddie). The family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to the Riverside Hospice Team for their care and compassion in Dorothy's final days.
