HAMPTON - Dorothy Lucille Martin Johnson Link, born in Newport News, and a long time resident of Hampton, died February 17, 2016. Lucille loved life and enjoyed many accomplishments in her 84 years. She retired from Hampton Public Schools where she was employed as a secretary. She was not only a devoted member of Wallace Memorial Methodist Church but also proudly served as the organist/choir director for 49 years. Lucille was also a dedicated volunteer at Sentara Careplex providing over 5,000 hours of service. Lucille was preceded in death by her past husbands William C. Johnson Jr., and William P. Link Jr., as well as her son David M. Johnson. Her survivors include two daughters, Patricia Johnson (David) and Mary Richardson (Don), two stepsons David Link and Michael Link (Michelle), grandchildren Brent Johnson and Jennifer Richardson, 7 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Williams and Jean Parker, a devoted niece Betty Rosser, other nieces and nephews, and her faithful companion, Peachie the cat. The family would like to give special thanks to friend and caregiver, Brenda Strickland. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton. A service will be held Monday, February 22 at 11:00am at Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church, Hampton. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lucille Link Memorial Fund in care of Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church, 6 Johnson Road, Hampton, VA 23664. Arrangements are by R.
