Dorothy Thompson King died peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the age of 84. She is remembered with love by her husband of 63 years, Francis King; her children Carol King of Hampton, Virginia, and Charles and Jane King, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; grandchildren Ben, Emily and Giles; her sister Carol Wilcox, of Vashon Island, Washington; nephews Scot Robinson and David Wilcox, and niece Jennifer Wells. She was also close to her sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their spouses and children: Margaret Wisdom and Ed Bassett of Arlington, Virginia, and Charles and Lee King of Alexandria, Virginia.

She lived a full life as an Army wife and mother, an artist, a gourmet cook, and a singer in many church choirs at Army stations around the world. She was also a superb sailboat First Mate. She made the world a better place for having been in it. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Washington DC.
