Doris Herron, 72, died Friday, May 6, 2016. A native and lifelong Hampton resident, she loved to crochet and made beautiful baby blankets, enjoyed working crossword and word search puzzles, played Bingo, and loved old 50's and 60's country music.

She loved her family very much and always put their needs above her own. Her home was open to anyone who needed her.

Preceded in death by her parents, James Frederick and Mary Lois Rhodes Crosby, four brothers and two sisters; survivors include her children, Barbara Ann Ware, Loretta Irene Hartley, and Robert Lee Herron, Jr.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Ware, Mary Lois Ware, Christopher Cody Boyd and Sara Christine Boyd; five great-grandchildren; a brother, William L. Crosby; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Jane Crosby and Jane W. Crosby; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – noon on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at noon. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
