Donnie Kerr Shinn, 71, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015. Born in Hampton, he graduated from Newport News High School in 1962. He graduated from the NASA Apprentice School and retired from NASA in 2001 after 38 years of service. A very active member of Bethel Baptist Church, he also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Shinn; two daughters, Teresa Egly and husband, Philip and Donna Childress and husband, Doug; four grandchildren, Courtney Childress Joyce, Zachary Childress, Grace Egly and Abigail Egly; a sister, Phyllis Shinn Seymour; and three brothers, Charles, Jerry, and Doug Shinn. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church.
