IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald E.
Hulton
September 19, 2024
Captain Donald E. Hulton, 85, passed away peacefully to be with our heavenly Father on
September 19, 2024, with his loving wife of 66 years, Bonnie L. Hulton, by his side. A pillar
of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves an immense void in our hearts.
Born in Rogers, OH to Dale E. Hulton and Glennadine L. (Lambright) Hulton and raised in
East Palestine, OH, Donald married his sweetheart as a young 20 year-old man, joined the
United States Air Force, and went on to receive his Masters in Business from Indiana
University.
Donald was stationed in the Philippines, England, Thailand and across the United States. After
24 years of service to our country, he retired as a captain and settled in Hampton, VA. He
then continued his career as a Budget Officer at Old Dominion University, retiring after 17 years.
A life-long Methodist, Donald was a member of First United Methodist Church Fox Hill and an
esteemed member of the United Methodist Men. Donald was also an avid musician; he shared
his rich bass voice with the church choir for 40 years, played in the hand bell choir,
performed with the Matinee Idlers Commonwealth Choir, and was a member of a barbershop
quartet where he continued to bring joy to others.
Donald enjoyed exploring the great wonders of the world with his wife and closest friends
and cherished summers on the beach with his family. He loved creating woodworks and
other masterpieces. He was a loving and loyal volunteer for Animal Aid Society, and the
world's greatest Poppop.
Donald is survived by his wife Bonnie L. Hulton, sister Brenda Jones, daughter Donna
(Stephen) Newman, grandchildren: Alexandra (Addison) Richardson, Ashley Newman, Abigail
(Erick) Sweet, Jacob Newman, and great-granddaughter, Willow Richardson.
A memorial service will be held at First U.M.C Fox Hill on Sunday, September 29th at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church Fox Hill or Animal Aid Society of
Hampton, VA.
