Donald Eugene "Don" Forsyth, USAF Major Ret., 85, died October 10th 2018 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA after a short illness.   The family will have a private service Monday in Columbus, OH.

Don was born on March 28, 1933 in Wichita, KS. He graduated from North High School (Columbus, OH) in 1951 and attended Capital University (Columbus, OH), graduating in 1955 with a degree in Education. At Capital, he played men's basketball and was inducted into the Capital University Athletic Hall of Fame on September 19, 2009.   After Capital University, Don went on to George Washington University where he obtained a Master's Degree in Education.   As a career Air Force veteran, he served in Vietnam with over 100 combat missions as a forward observer. He also served with the US Navy and US Army and retired after 20 years as a GS-12.

He is survived by his brother Floyd David Forsyth, daughter Alice Decker, son David Forsyth, and granddaughter Katerina Check.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a contribution to either or both organizations here in his name:
