Donald Edward Alvis, 92, died Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Born in Glen Falls, New York, he was a long time Peninsula resident since 1967. Don joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating from Tarrant High School, serving as a flight engineer. He also worked for many years at Hayes International Corporation, based in Birmingham, AL. His final place of employment was Howmet Corporation as a Human Resource
Professional.
Don is survived by his brother, John Alvis and sister, Judy Parsons. His children Gary Alvis, Kitty Williams, Connie Schneider and Lesa Ankney; his grandchildren Jessica Gaboury, Jessi Smith, Keven Elledge, Jonathan Schneider, Alex Schneider and Denver Alvis. He was blessed with great-grandchildren; Zachary, Wyatt, Brooke, Tanner, Murphy, Eli, Kaelin, Ty, Colt, Tyler and Reese. He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy.
A memorial service will be held at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home at 2 PM, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately prior to the service.
