HAMPTON, Va. – Dessie Alice Haley Sheffler , 97, departed this earth for eternal life on February 16, 2016, at her son's residence in Hampton, Va.
Born December 20, 1918, in Waynesboro, Pa, she was the daughter of Elsie Creager Snowberger Haley and Paul Haley, Sr. She was married to Roy W. Sheffler who passed on December 21, 2005. They were married in Hagerstown, Md, on June 28, 1941. She lived her entire life in Waynesboro until she moved to Virginia in 2011 due to health reasons to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro, Pa, and had been active in numerous Sunday school classes and church activities. She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School, class of 1937.
She was a member of the Mount Vernon Chapter of Eastern Star #398, Waynesboro, and was the oldest living Past Matron having served in that position in 1967.
She is survived by a son, Roy E. (Butch) Sheffler (Penny) of Hampton, Va. She has a grandson, Brian E. Sheffler (Kristin) and a granddaughter, Kimberly Sheffler Cagley (Tommy), and one great grandson, Easton P. Cagley, all of Hampton, Va.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her sister, Carmen Settles, and brothers, Paul Haley, Jr., Joseph (Don) Snowberger, and Max Snowberger.

A graveside service will be conducted at the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, Pa, at future time.
