Dessie Ilene Douglas died Sunday, June 28, 2015. A native of Wakesville, WV, she had been a Hampton resident since 1940 where she worked for Nachman's Dept. Store for 18 years. Preceded in death by her husband, CWO4, ret. Lawton P. Douglas; survivors include her daughters, Jackie Sanders and Deborah Dickerson; her son, John R. Derby, Jr.; her brother, Calvin Niday; three grandchildren, Brook McLeod, Zackery Sanders, and John R. Derby, III; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Hampton Memorial Gardens by Rev. Gene Parisher. The family will receive friends from 7-8PM Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
