Dessaline L. Surber, 88, died Saturday, May 9, 2015. Born in Washington Co, VA she had been Hampton resident since 1957. Dessaline retired in 2007 from Riverside Health Systems, medical records after 30 years of service. Dessaline is survived by her daughter, Linda Surber; sons, William Surber (Karin), Michael Surber (Margaret) and Edgar Surber; sisters, Opal Kidd and Zana Davis; brother, Claude Edgar Counts Jr.; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Riverside Hospice for their care and support during Dessaline's illness. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1-2 PM.
