Derek Vincent Laverie, 36, passed away unexpectedly on Monday April 22, 2024.  Born in Newport News, Virginia to parents Joseph and Kimberly Laverie, he remained a lifelong resident.  Derek enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children.  He loved to watch informational programs and YouTube channels.  Derek had beautiful blue eyes, just like his father; and had an infectious laugh and a warm-hearted smile.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry King; and grandmother, Patricia Rodriguez.  Derek leaves to cherish his memory, parents, Joe and Kim Laverie; wife Traci Laverie, children Hadlen, Hudsen and Harlen Laverie; brother and sister, Anthony and Alyssa Laverie; grandmother, Linda King; grandfather, Herb Laverie (Janet); uncles and aunts, Julie Kilby-King (William), David King (Stephanie), Kari King, Krystal King, Brett King (Angie), Herb Laverie (Yongja), Ron Laverie (Kathy), Gerardo Rodriguez (Tasha), Lesley King, and Douglas Laverie (Lisa); his niece, Savannah; step-children, that he loved as his own, Madisen, Jaiden, Graisen, Braxten, and Landen; cousins, Amber, Michael, Brandon, Andrew, Madison, Zachary, Skyler, Maddie, Joy, Kaylee, Taylor and Marissa; and a large extended family and many friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2024, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton.  A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the funeral home.
