Obituary

Delmar L. Heaster, 85 passed into Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born in West Virginia, where he grew up with eight siblings, and later moved to Hampton, Virginia, where he met his wife and started his family.

Delmar worked as a General Foreman in Facilities Maintenance at the time of his retirement from employment. His family considered him a "jack of all trades," and there wasn't anything he couldn't do when it came to a project or a repair.  He built his retirement home, and later built homes for his son and daughter.  His grandkids also spent their childhood making special memories in a treehouse he built for them in the woods on his property.  He was always lending a hand to help others with a project of their own, and he was a model of strength and hard work to those who knew him.

Delmar was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed doing these activities with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed planting and growing his own vegetable gardens on his property.  He loved the outdoors, and spent most of his retired days outside to keep busy and active.

Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Mary Heaster, and several siblings.  He is survived by his wife Helen Heaster; daughter Tanya Turpin (David); son Dwayne Heaster (Marci); grandchildren Megan Bonham, Dylan Heaster, Bailey Spradling (Triston), and Logan Turpin; three great grandchildren; siblings Diane Ferguson, Dink Heaster, and Dennis Heaster; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

The family will hold a private service in the future.
