Della Elizabeth Cobb Swain, 88, of Hampton, VA, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. She was born May 2, 1927 in Merry Hill Township, N.C. to the late Charlie T. and Della C. Cobb.
Della was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed working in her home, yard and watching the birds and butterflies. The time spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her a great joy.
She was a member of the Hampton Church of the Nazarene for years and now a member of the Bibleway Fellowship.
In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry Clifton Swain, sons Charles and Robert Swain, and sister, Annie Gray Jenkins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Judy Letourneau (Ray), Peggy Blake (Dayton), Kathy Burr (Kim), Brenda Wilson, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a brother Charlie L. Cobb (Sadie), a sister Dorothy Dunning (Carroll), nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 26, 5:00 pm –7:30 pm at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, February 27 at 10:00 AM at R Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave. Hampton, Va. 23669. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
