Robbie Dean Bynum, 74, died Sunday, July 11, 2021. Born in Moultrie, GA on Aug. 8, 1946, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Moultrie Technical College with a degree in drafting and design. He worked at Gibbs and Cox for a number of years and then went to work for the Newport News Shipyard from where he retired. He loved country music, especially Willie Nelson, Hawaiian shirts, and a good meal; his favorites were Laura's Rise and Shine and Tommy's, but most of all his grandson Hunter. Dean was known for his generosity, always willing to help someone in need.
Preceded in death by his parents Curtis, Sr and Louise Bynum and his sisters, Linda Shelton and Carrie Jo Lambert; survivors include his wife, Donna Routten Bynum; his daughter, Christy Bynum and husband, Brandon Honeycutt; his much loved grandson, Hunter Bynum; his sister, Loretta Houston and husband, David; two brothers, Curtis Bynum Jr. and wife, Dotti, and Paul Bynum; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 Wednesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Both the service and the interment may be watched live by clicking here.
