David Leigh Newsome Jr., 56, moved to God's arms after a fierce battle with cancer and cancer treatment on Friday, September 13, 2013. He grew up in Hampton, was a graduate of Kecoughtan High School and worked as a Mechanical Engineering Technician for over 30 years in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was an avid musician who enjoyed the blues and loved taking time to play his guitar. He was an ardent New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins fan who also enjoyed fishing. David devoted most of his life to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and most of his heart to his wife. David is survived by his wife Deborah Newsome; mother, Margaret T. LaRocco and step-father Frank S. LaRocco of Isle of Wight County; sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Jeffrey Dunn of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Patricia Grampre and husband Hank; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton 825-8070.
