Obituary

David L. Morgan, 79, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Born in New Haven, CT he had been a Hampton resident since 1958. A graduate of Virginia Tech, David worked 16 years for Newport News Shipbuilding before becoming a security officer at Surry Nuclear Power Station where he worked for over 20 years. A longtime member of First Calvary Baptist Church, he was a supporter of the Peninsula SPCA, the Humane Society, and the Hampton Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid league bowler for 25 years throughout the Peninsula and enjoyed fishing.
David is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Emelia R. Morgan; daughters, Amelia Donathan, Marian Wollett and Dorothy Kernan; and grandchildren, Savanna Donathan, Carlotta Donathan and Sarah Wollett.
David was loved and respected by his family and all who knew him throughout his church, work and the community.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 162 Alleghany Rd, Hampton by Pastor Mark D. Boyd. The family will receive friends at church prior to the service from 10-11 AM Saturday.
