Darla Janine Hurlock, 64, died Thursday, December 29, 2022. Born in Anchorage, AK to the late Patricia Jane and Lyle Sterling Smith, she had been a Hampton resident since 1974 where she retired from the Hampton VA Medical Center in 2019 after more than 30 years of service.

She loved her dogs and cats and walking trails with them. She was the most devoted mother, avid gardener, and was a voracious reader, especially science fiction. She was very intelligent and knew a little about everything.

Preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Smith; survivors include her husband, Mike Hurlock; three children, Christine, Katie and Joey; a brother, Chip Smith; and her beloved pets, Bodhi, Honey, and Edward.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Monday, January 2, 2023 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
